There is something that happens when a community comes together to celebrate who it is. The music gets louder. The food gets better. The pride runs a little deeper. And for one afternoon in October, Patten Center and PARTNER Park on Reade Street will be the most vibrant corner of Perth Amboy.
PARTNER NJ is honored to join the City of Perth Amboy, the Perth Amboy Free Public Library, and PA Recreation in celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month on Saturday, October 10 from 2 to 6 PM at Patten Center and PARTNER Park, 339 Reade Street, Perth Amboy.
This is a free, family-friendly celebration for the entire community. Come hungry, come ready to dance, and come ready to celebrate the culture, heritage, and pride of the families who make the Gateway Neighborhood home.
What to Expect
The afternoon will feature delicious food from the diverse culinary traditions of the Hispanic community, live music performances throughout the event, local vendors and artisans showcasing unique finds from the community, and the kind of energy that only happens when people who love their neighborhood come together to celebrate it.
Whether you are from Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, or anywhere across Latin America and the Caribbean, this celebration honors the full breadth and beauty of Hispanic heritage. And if you are not Hispanic, you are still welcome. This is a community celebration, and everyone belongs here.
Why We Celebrate
Perth Amboy’s Gateway Neighborhood is more than 83 percent Hispanic, making it one of the most vibrant Latino communities in all of New Jersey. The families who live here bring generations of culture, tradition, and resilience that have shaped this city into what it is today. Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from September 15 through October 15, is a national recognition of the contributions, achievements, and stories of Hispanic and Latino Americans across the country.
For PARTNER NJ, this celebration is personal. Every program we offer — from homebuyer education to ESL classes, from career fairs to family wellness programs — is built around serving this community with the respect, cultural competency, and dedication it deserves. We do not just work in the Gateway Neighborhood. We are part of it.
A Note on Our Partners
This event would not be possible without the collaboration of the City of Perth Amboy, the Perth Amboy Free Public Library, and PA Recreation. Together, we are committed to building a community where every resident feels seen, celebrated, and supported. This afternoon is for all of you.
