Perth Amboy Artist Listing

Donald Gavron (Creative Writing)

Artist bio/statement:

I am a writer of horror and speculative fiction. I am also a visual artist and graphic designer. My art career began at Murphy Anderson Visual Concepts. In my 25-year career in the advertising field I worked for various corporations, newspapers and ad agencies in New Jersey and New York as an art director, illustrator and web designer. I attended Rutgers Newark College of Arts & Sciences, majoring in journalism; and Raritan Valley Community College, where I studied web design.

My first novel is titled Glacier: A Tale of Rock ‘n’ Roll Horror, about a rock band on a reunion tour stalked by a demon from their past. My short story collections are War Wolves and Other Tales of Terror, Dead Words and More Weird Stories and Turn On The Dark. My new novel, Red Ink, is due early in 2019.

My personal interests include literature, music, movies, art, photography and baseball. I play a good game of chess and in my spare time I sketch, photograph landscapes, and compose abstract computer art. My most recent music critiques can be found at http://www.medleyville.us. My favorite writers are Edgar Allan Poe, Ray Bradbury, James Purdy, Paul Bowles, Richard Matheson and H.P. Lovecraft.

I was born and raised in Perth Amboy, and I often return to my roots to gather material for my writing, meet friends, or just wander around the waterfront.

My home base is Hillsborough, New Jersey with my wife Anna and our two cats. My books are available on Amazon (in print or Kindle versions), and signed copies are available on request.
